Two months ago, Hawaiian award winning rapper ‘Illtalian’ announced his retirement from rap music, this news caused a great shock to a whole lot of people especially those who are die hard fans of the artiste. He backed up his retirement news by dropping a single ‘Hoku(Just hold)’ with ‘PoetiCS’ which he tagged as the last work from him.
Little did we know that the artiste was only going for rebranding as he cuts away his stage name ‘Illtalian’ and takes on his new name Thomas Iannucci’. He marks his comeback into the music scene with the new name by releasing a new single titled ‘Famiglia’ ft. KJ-52, produced by The Brewz.

I wasn’t kidding when I said that I was done making Illtalian music…but my first song as Thomas Iannucci is out now 😉 Check out Famiglia (prod. by The Brewz and feat. KJ-52) at the link in my bio or wherever music is sold! Please like, comment and share and let’s make my first official song as Thomas Iannucci a memorable one! I’ll explain more about my name change soon, but for now check out this article by Trackstarz with my official statement. Much love to everyone who helped me keep this secret and make such an awesome song: KJ52 (Jonah Sorrentino) for the dope guest verse, Eric Boston of Trackstarz for the write up, Justin Sarachik, Natalia Maldonado and the whole Rapzilla team for the advice and keeping my secret LOL, Alyssa Carvalho and April Aguilar for the cool album cover, and the incredible production team The Brewz for building the song from the ground up! More specifically, thank you to my bro Chaz Umamoto for co-writing, production, and mastering, Joshua Stephens and Daniel Lyons for mixing and production and alllll the paperwork assistance, Lucas Hogg for co-production, and Daniel Gilad for engineering. As you can see it took an army of people to put this together and I’m so blessed to work with all of them. Most of all thank you Jesus for the opportunity to do what I love in a new way, and thanks to all of YOU for rocking with me on the next part of my journey 😉🐍 #Famiglia

Well, the secret’s out: I’m not making music as Illtalian anymore, but I AM as Thomas Iannucci. Though I did have fun keeping you all guessing, the decision to change my name wasn’t one I made lightly or as a joke. Ending Illtalian is the end of an era for me. Under that name I first started rapping, I released an EP and an album, I won a Nā Hōkū Hanohano award, and I got the chance to work with some of my favorite artists. I’ve been Illtalian for over a decade. A change like this is scary. But I came up with the name when I was fifteen, as a sort of tongue-in-cheek response to anyone who called me the ‘next white rapper’. But as I’ve grown, I no longer feel the need to defend myself in that way. In fact, as my music has begun to be heard outside of Hawaii, I’ve found myself becoming less and less associated with that side of my heritage. And yet, by continuing to go under the name Illtalian, I began to find that I was limited in my ability to talk about other parts of my life (like being Filipino, or even growing up in Hawaii), because of the connotations of the name ‘Illtalian’. Only by being Thomas Iannucci can I truly be transparent and cover everything I’d like to cover with my music. By going with my real name, I am no longer keeping rapping separate from the rest of me. Previously, I was Thomas Iannucci, and Illtalian was a mask I wore, a persona I became on the stage. I kept music outside of my personal life, and vice versa. But now, I am breaking down that facade. Though rapping is not all that I am, I am most certainly a rapper, a musician, an artist. It’s time for me to embrace God’s calling on me 100%. No more halfway; I’m all in. Like Saul of Tarsus’ transformation into the apostle Paul, this is more than just a name change. I hope you will all come with me as I take the next step on this amazing journey.
We welcome Thomas Iannucci back into the fold.
